Chelmer Veterans Cricket Club History

History

On a dark and chilly October evening in 2012 at the Horse & Groom pub in Galleywood, Ted Woodgate (Stock CC), Geoffrey Reddin (Woodham Mortimer CC) and Chris Bellamy (Margaretting CC) came together to discuss the possibility of forming a new midweek cricket club for genuine cricketing veterans of the Chelmsford area. After much joking, discussion and too many drinks, Chelmer Veterans Cricket Club was born.We were looking to put a side together for around 16 midweek fixtures throughout the 2013 season to play a fun and friendly game of cricket whilst visiting some fantastic facilities throughout the county of Essex. There may also be opportunity for the odd post match beer. Our home matches  take place at T Rippon Premier League grounds of Stock CC and Rettendon CC whilst away grounds include Copford,Billericay (used by Essex 2nd eleven) and Chingford.
