Chelmer Veterans Cricket Club News story

A New Club is Born!

25 Oct 2012

On a dark and chilly October evening at the Horse & Groom pub in Galleywood, Ted Woodgate (Stock CC), Geoffrey Reddin (Woodham Mortimer CC) and Chris Bellamy (Margaretting CC) came together to discuss the possibility of forming a new midweek cricket club for genuine cricketing veterans of the Chelmsford area.

After much joking, discussion and too many drinks, Chelmer Veterans Cricket Club was born.

We are looking to put a side together for around 16 midweek fixtures throughout the 2013 season to play a fun and friendly game of cricket whilst visiting some fantastic facilities throughout the county of Essex. There may also be opportunity for the odd post match beer!

We would like to make the team accessible to as many people as we can by keeping our membership and match fees as reasonable as possible. Annual membership will be just £10 and match fees will be £8 per game. Match fees might even fall if we can get the project off the ground!

Home matches will take place at either Woodham Mortimer CC or Stock CC whilst away fixtures have already been arranged against the Two Counties Veterans XI at Halstead and Frinton, which are two fantastic grounds.

If you would like to become a member or if you have want to find out more please do not hesitate to get in touch!
