Match report On a somewhat chilly July day in Billericay, Chelmer batted first in a timed game that was played on the main square with an enormous outfield. Charlie Lacey and Anand Patel faced some accurate bowling and were unable to make much headway, before Anand took a swipe and missed one from the foxy Muldoon. Chris Bellamy made the long walk out to the middle from the pavilion, only to return there a short time later. David Griffiths and Charlie Lacey went past the half century mark but both were out soon after, leaving it to Brian Robinson and Philip Pond to put on the next 100 runs in an unbroken partnership.

With a total of 177 for 4, we were never going to be in an invincible position to defend. Billericay openers Sood and Wakefield came out to face Jeff Gregory who was up for the contest but it was with unexpected ease that the opening pair cruised to the required total in the 28th over.

Chelmer had a mixed day in the field and suffice to say that there were few chances of a wicket and no matter how we tried, it proved impossible to stem the flow of runs. Perhaps the only positive was that the match passed without incident.
