Chelmer Veterans Cricket Club The Midweek Veterans v Old Victorians on Wed 28 Sep 2016 at 12:30
Chelmer Veterans Cricket Club Lost by 5 wkts

Match report Our last game of the season and a winning toss gave us the chance to make hay while the sun still shone. It was a beautiful afternoon and the Chelmer innings began solidly, Dan Porter and S Ash putting on 24 for the first wicket. Brian Robinson came in at the fall of the first wicket and consolidated the healthy start with a carefully-constructed 36. Colin Blore played his final innings of September with a relatively modest 25, modest only in terms of his previous innings in his golden month.

Martin Southwell (33) and Charlie Lacey (34) helped things along nicely and John Woodrow (12 n.o.) brought us up to 199 all out.

For the visitors, Blake made this game the one sided affair it became. Martin Southwell toiled away for 15 overs and the commendable figures of 4 for 67 which included a couple of stumpings for Charlie Lacey but there was nothing in the pitch for the bowlers.

No matter how hard our bowlers tried, we couldn’t make any impression and Blake moved steadily on towards the target. Others came and went, notably Khan for 38, but in the end Blake made the difference with his unbeaten 85 and Old Victorians were the victors, finishing on 201 for 5.
