Match report The first day of Autumn in every sense.... a green strip & slow outfield and with one eye on the weather forecast skipper Griffiths elected to bat first.

CVCC's early-order struggled against some accurate bowling & the conditions, & when the fourth wicket fell in the 22nd over the score had limped to just 62. A brisk half-century from Phil Bartlett at a strike rate of over 130 partially rescued the situation, but the feeling at Non-Tea was that the final total of 135 was perhaps 15/20 runs below par.

Tight opening spells from Gregory & Baker applied early pressure. Two catches by Gregory (one regulation, one stunning) in a double-wicket maiden by Griffiths reduced Stort Valley to 62-4 after 22 overs, needing a further 74 runs at just shy of 6 an over. Further tight bowling by Griffiths & Robinson saw the score edge to 78-4 after 28 overs, leaving 58 required at a required-rate of 8.3.

CVCC were unable to maintain the pressure as Waheed led Stort Valley home with an unbeaten 47 off of 38 balls.
