East Hertfordshire Cavaliers v Chelmer Veterans Cricket Club The Midweek Veterans on Thu 26 May 2022 at 14-00
Chelmer Veterans Cricket Club Lost by 7 wickets

Match report We were hosted by East Herts Cavaliers at their new home venue at Allenbury CC Ware. A nice ground with excellent batting wicket only let down by the constant traffic noise from the nearby A10. The visitors having lossed the toss were surprised to be inserted on what looked like a bat first track.
The now established opening partnership of Cory and Cooper set about the task of compiling runs when Richard who again looked in good touch was caught at deep mid off for 29 by a young Australian Chingford 1,s player who was going to have a significant outcome in the game.
Simon then advanced down the wicket and was stumped shortly after for 27.This then brought together the in form Mark Rynn who once again set about accumulating runs retiring on 100 and ably supported by Darren Smith who plundered and well deserved 56. With a couple of wickets tumbling in the final overs in search of additional runs the visitors closed on 251 for 6.the third time in consecutive games we have surpassed 250!
The hosts then set about their reply but were initially undone when the dangerous opener Blake was caught by a superb running catch at backward Square leg for 3 in a trap that had been set for his go to shot! This brought to the wicket the young Australian who with fine stroke play and power hitting accelerated the run rate at a frenetic pace which saw him reach 100 in double quick time retiring on 105 and virtually sucking the lifeblood out of the CVCC bowlers all of whom had suffered at the hands of his flashing blade. The runs continued to flow with the number 4 scoring 86no having given the visitors skipper a sharp chance at square leg which ricocheted off his hand adding insult to injury running to the boundary for yet another four. Perhaps this chance may have offered a glimmer of hope but was not to be and the home side reached the target with 3 overs remaining for the loss of just three wickets.
Nilesh was the only bowler with any success who took 3 for 34 of his seven overs. This was a hard lesson but stillany positives to be taken in defeat.. Griff.
