Match report Stort Valley won the toss & elected to bat first in a 'traditional' timed game on a hot afternoon at the end of the runway at Stansted. Chelmer Vets were pleased to welcome Ed Oliver & Dave Fleming on debut.

Cockrell & Gregory bowled tightly from the start, restricting the hosts to 61-3 from the first 20 overs. Cockrell bowled 16 overs unchanged, maintaining an economy rate of below 3.0 -- an impressive effort regardless of the challenging conditions. Stort Valley attempted to accelerate the scoring rate in the 2nd half of the innings, before declaring on 153 in just shy of three hours.

This left Chelmer Vets with 65 minutes + 20 overs to chase down the target. A steady start saw the score reach 75-2 by the beginning of the last 20 overs. Cooper & Rynn pushed the score along to 106 before Rynn fell, bringing "The Finisher" Streatfield to the crease to bludgeon an unbeaten 23 off 16 balls. Cooper finished on 54 not out as Chelmer Vets won by 7 wickets with 6.2 overs to spare.
