Match report The old adage is "Don't change a winning team" -- however injuries, unavailability & a wielding of the disciplinary axe by Obergruppenführer Woodgate meant the CVCC XI showed six changes from last week's victory.

Notwithstanding the portents were encouraging as the tossed coin had barely returned to earth before returning skipper Griffiths announced "We'll bat first" -- a wise decision if only to avoid being eviscerated by his own team should he have even considered fielding first on a steaming hot afternoon.

A steady start took the score to 83-2 approaching the mid-point of the innings, before a clatter of wickets gave the scoreboard a very different look at 83-5. A partnership of 63 between M Taylor & Pond steadied the proverbial ship before further quick wickets reduced the final total to 169-9 from the allotted 35 overs. It has been requested that there be no mention of the two admissions into The Primary Club, & obviously this will be respected (!)

Any idea that this might be a competitive total was swiftly dismissed as North Weald raced to 91-2 in just nine overs, with the brakes being only partially applied as the target was reached with 15 overs to spare.
