Match report And so the trilogy reached it’s climax as Chelmer Vets hosted a (not-so) Old Vics for the third time in six weeks.
Director of Cricket Operations Woodgate again rang the changes, rotating his squad with four new faces from the previous week’s fixture.

Once again skippers Rynn & Burke agreed on a 38-over format, but the formality of the toss was dispensed with as Old Vics had three players delayed by a ding-dong on the M25.

CVCC bowled steadily throughout & with no obvious fielding clangers restricted Old Vics to 185 at an rate of less than five an over.
Bartlett was again effective in the so-called ‘death overs’ & in the final analysis the concession of just one bye and three wides was to prove decisive.

CVCC were a little behind the asking rate at the drinks interval (64-3 off 18), requiring another 122 at 6.1/over.
The swift loss of a fourth wicket following a successful a-peal did not improve the situation, but Cooper & Rynn both completed solid half-centuries without alarm to get Vets within sight of victory.

Rynn fell at 173 in the 33rd over, leaving just 13 required in 32 balls.
Progress slowed as the light worsened & the rainfall took its toll, and it was left to Cockrell to chime in with quick cameo 10 to seal victory with eight balls to spare.
