Match report After the extreme weather conditions of some previous fixtures, a benign afternoon was forecast at Stock CC. The strip also looked benign, but looks can be deceptive as there was sufficient action "to keep the bowlers interested".

Skipper Rynn lost the toss & CVCC were invited to bat first in a 38-over contest. Being reduced to 4-2 in the fourth over was less than ideal, but Messrs Blore (54), Taylor & Rynn (56) fashioned a recovery to 156-4 before a late clatter of wickets in the final overs saw the hosts post a total of 177-9.
Mention must be made of some exceptional sportsmanship by the visitors Talal Sultan -- after a teammate claimed what appeared to be a fair boundary catch, Sultan advised that he had seen his colleague inadvertently cross the boundary line.

East Herts started their reply needing to score at 4.7/over. Tight opening spells by Cockrell & Gregory restricted the score to 54-0 after 16 overs, pushing the required rate up to 5.6. Change bowlers Griffiths & Robinson continued the good work, & after 32 overs E Herts had reached 136-2, requiring 42 from the final six overs. The wisdom of the old adage about the "value of wickets in hand" was demonstrated again as the visitors reached their target with an over to spare.
