Match report Unlike 2020, the 2021 season got underway on time albeit that Covid threw a spanner in the works regarding ground availability -- many thanks to Darren Smith & Rettendon CC for stepping into the breach. The ground looked splendid in the spring sunshine, although there was still a Baltic nip in the breeze.

Skipper Griff may or may not have won the toss, but CVCC batted first regardless. The innings was held together by Rynn's 98 not out -- going into the final over on 88, he was just unable to reach a well-deserved century. CVCC's total of 181 seemed about par, & left Billericay needing a shade over 4.5/over for victory.

Porter & Baker bowled tight opening spells, the latter bowling unchanged & conceding just 10 runs from his eight overs. First & second change bowlers Thomas & Griffiths both proved effective, the former's figures being a little distorted by his 6th over going for 13.
John ripped the heart out of the innings with three wickets in 10 balls early in his spell as the Billericay slipped from 68-2 to 70-5. Already behind the required run rate at this stage, the target of 102 off the 12 overs then remaining proved too much.
