Match report A lost toss meant that Chelmer Veterans had to bowl first on a hot sunny afternoon, but another good team performance proved that games can be won chasing a total instead of defending one.

Opening bowlers Chris Baker and Phil Bartlett got off to a good start with a maiden followed by a sharp slip catch by Richard Cory in the second over, 0 for 1. A second wicket fell to Bartlett when he found some extra bounce, forcing the other opener to hit one in the air to Mark Stratton at cover, 13 for 2. Baker then snared the key wicket of Simon Sargent, trapped lbw, 45 for 3. Wickets for Griff and Mark Taylor left the score on 89 for 5 with the overs ticking away, but subsequent good partnerships saw the Two Counties innings end on 201 for 5 after 49 overs, still a decent bowling and fielding performance in the heat.

After tea, Chelmer also lost an early wicket, Cory adjudged lbw second ball for four. Suthers was undone by a slower ball, bowled for 31. Mark Rynn was joined at the crease by Paul Lowe, and the pair added 85 in 16 overs, regularly hitting bad balls to the boundary. Rynn was eventually bowled for 42, 132 for 3 but Mark Stratton carried on the good work with Paul and the pair saw Chelmer safely home, Lowe 80 not out, Stratton 37 not out, winning with five overs to spare.
